James White’s Fort will host a hands-on Herb Workshop with Jim Buckenmyer on Saturday, May 30, 2015 from 11:00am until approximately 2:00pm with a lunch break. Lunch will be provided.

Herbs were essential to frontier life. During this hands on working workshop we will cover how to chose the right herbs for your garden, designing the garden for maximum growth and appeal, building the optimal garden, how to best maintain that garden and how to harvest and prepare your herbs for use. (Please bring your own gloves, as they will not be provided. Some tools will be provided, but if you have your own and are willing to bring them, please do!)

When the workshop is over we will have actually built a beautiful herb garden. There will also be plants for you to take home with you so you can start your own garden

Jim is a longtime participant in the reenacting community with immense knowledge in late-18th and early-19th century culture.

The cost is $25 per person, with money raised going toward educational programming at James White’s Fort. Space is limited to 20 people, so reserve yours now! To register, call 865-525-6514 or email SpecialEvents@JamesWhitesFort.org. The last day for registration will be Thursday, May 28th.

James White’s Fort is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit. The Fort is not owned by the City, County or State.
